Outsourced accounting for accounting firms
Outsourced accounting for firms means another team does part of your firm's work behind the scenes. Finvo takes on bookkeeping, year-end working papers, tax returns for your review, payroll, GST/HST and PST, admin, software and website work, with a team in India and a team in Canada. Your firm reviews, signs off and keeps the client.
Take one piece of the work, or several
These are the services Finvo already runs for its own clients in BC and Alberta, offered to your firm behind the scenes, for firms in BC, Alberta and the rest of Canada.
Monthly bookkeeping
Transactions coded, bank and credit card accounts reconciled and open items listed for you. We aim to close each month within two weeks of month end, once the records are in.
Catch-up and clean-up
Files that are months or years behind, or kept in a spreadsheet, brought up to date and reconciled so your team starts from a clean file.
Year-end working papers
Lead sheets, reconciliations, schedules and supporting documents prepared to your firm's format, ready for your review.
Tax returns for your review (T1, T2)
T1 personal returns, including self-employed and rental schedules, and T2 corporate returns, prepared in your tax software with notes on anything that needs your judgement. Your firm reviews and files.
Payroll processing
Pay runs, source deduction remittances, T4 slips and records of employment, in the payroll software your clients already use.
GST/HST and PST returns
Sales tax returns prepared from the reconciled books, with the working behind each figure, for your firm to review and file.
Administrative support and call handling
Answering and returning client calls in your firm's name, booking appointments, chasing missing documents and keeping files in order, on the topics you agree.
Software set-up and support
Setting up accounting and payroll software, moving files from one system to another, connecting bank feeds and apps, and training your team or your clients in the software listed below.
Website services (your firm and your clients)
A website for your own firm, or for your clients' businesses: built by a web partner Finvo has contracted, with hosting in year one, the domain and one named point of contact. Quoted after a call.
A team in India and a team in Canada
You choose the mix: preparation by our team in India, with review and client contact by our team in Canada, or our Canada-based team only.
Our team in India: the preparation
- Coding, reconciliations and working papers
- Returns and sales tax filings prepared for review
- Payroll runs, admin and software work to your checklists
Our team in Canada: review and contact
- Reviews the work before it reaches you
- Handles the client contact you agree to, in Canadian business hours
- One contact for your firm, in Canada
Finvo is not a CPA firm, and we don't issue audit, review or compilation engagement reports. We prepare the work; your firm reviews it, signs off and stays the firm your clients deal with.
A team member of your own, or work by the file
Every engagement is its own proposal. Pick the one that fits your volume, or start with one and move to the other.
A full-time dedicated team member
One person hired for your firm, working your hours, in your software and to your checklists, as part of your team. Suits a steady flow of work.
- Works only on your firm's files
- Takes direction from your team, day to day
- Backed by our Canada-based review, if you want it
Per-file work
Send a file or a batch when you need help: a monthly bookkeeping file, a year-end, a set of returns in the busy months. Suits seasonal or uneven volume.
- Scope and deadline agreed for each file or batch
- Good for tax-season overflow
- A trial on one or two files to start, if you like
Either way, white-label if you prefer: your firm's name on emails and documents, your templates and your sign-off.
Your clients' data, protected and yours
Confidentiality and data security
- We can sign your non-disclosure agreement, or provide ours, before any client file is shared.
- We work through access your firm gives, such as an accountant user on the client's file or a seat in your portal. You can remove it at any time.
- Passwords live in a password manager, our accounts require two-step sign-in, and a file is open only to the people working on it.
- Client personal details, such as SINs, never go into AI tools, and you can ask us not to use AI on your files at all.
Quality control
- A checklist agreed with you for each kind of file, so the work comes back the way your reviewers expect.
- A senior manager reviews the work before it goes back to you; in a mixed team, that review is done in Canada.
- Every file comes back with notes on open items and anything that needs your judgement.
Turnaround and communication
- Deadlines are agreed in writing for each engagement before work starts.
- One named contact for your firm, and check-ins at a rhythm you choose.
- Email, phone or video, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm Pacific and Mountain time. We aim to reply within one business day.

How does the India and Canada team work?
Our team in India does the preparation work: coding, reconciliations, working papers and returns. Our team in Canada reviews that work before it reaches you, handles any client contact you agree to, and is your firm's contact during Canadian business hours. If you prefer, the work can stay with our Canada-based team only.
How do you keep our client data secure?
We can sign your non-disclosure agreement, or provide ours, before any client file is shared. We work through access your firm gives, such as an accountant user on the client's file or a seat in your portal, and you can remove it at any time. Passwords live in a password manager, our accounts require two-step sign-in, and a file is open only to the people working on it. Client personal details, such as SINs, never go into AI tools, and you can ask us not to use AI on your files at all.
Who talks to our clients?
You decide, file by file. You can keep every client conversation while we work back office only, or ask us to chase missing documents and routine questions, or to answer and return calls in the firm's name. Advice and anything sensitive stay with your firm.
What is the turnaround?
Deadlines are agreed in writing for each engagement before work starts. For monthly bookkeeping we aim to close each month within two weeks of month end, once the records are in. Year-end files and batches of returns get their own agreed dates, set around your firm's review time.
Which software do you work in?
QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage 50, Wave, Odoo and Zoho Books for the books; ADP and Sage 50 payroll; TaxCycle and ProFile for returns. We hold the QuickBooks ProAdvisor and Xero Certified Advisor certifications, and we can work in your firm's own tools and templates.
How does pricing work?
Pricing is set for each engagement after a call, from the work, the volume, the software, the team mix and whether you choose a full-time team member or per-file work. We don't publish rates. You get a written proposal to accept before any work starts, and changes in scope are agreed before they are billed.
Should we choose a full-time team member or per-file work?
A full-time dedicated team member suits a firm with a steady flow of work: one person hired for your firm, working your hours, in your software and to your checklists. Per-file work suits seasonal or uneven volume: you send a file or a batch, and we agree the scope and the deadline for each. You can start per file and move to a team member later.
Can you work under our firm's name?
Yes. If you prefer white-label, we work as part of your team: your firm's name on emails and documents, your templates and your sign-off. Your clients deal with your firm as they do today. Finvo is not a CPA firm: we prepare the work, and your firm reviews it, signs off and stays the firm your clients deal with.
Do you know Canadian tax rules?
Yes. We prepare Canadian work every week for our own clients in BC and Alberta: T1 and T2 returns, GST/HST and BC PST returns, payroll remittances, T4 slips and year-end files. For firms in other provinces, we agree up front which returns and provincial rules the work covers, and your firm reviews every return before it is filed.
How do we get started?
Book a free 15-minute call, send the short form on this page, or email contact@finvo.ca. We talk through the work, the team and who talks to your clients. Then we can sign your non-disclosure agreement, you give us access through your firm's own logins, and we can offer a trial on one or two files before a written proposal.
